08/2018-06/2019, PhD, partly supervised by Yuan Gao of the China Earthquake Administration (CEA) and Takashi Iidaka of ERI, University of Tokyo. Zhu spent a few months at ERI with Takashi in summer 2018, at the same time as me, and wanted to explore the upper mantle beneath the Tibetan Plateau. We met twice a week to discuss the inverse problem and the famous Occam’s razor. He is very good at visualising results and we could advance the project at an impressive speed. We published a paper on this imaging using waveform inversion. Zhu is now a postdoc in China.
